South Korea’s conservative president Yoon Suk Yeol declared martial legislation late on Tuesday night time, accusing the left-wing bloc that controls the nationwide meeting of North Korean sympathies.

Yoon, a hardline former chief prosecutor, declared an emergency as he stated the opposition Democratic Celebration of Korea had paralysed state actions.

The South Korean foreign money slumped to a two-year low on Tuesday after the declaration. The received was down 1.4 per cent towards the greenback to 1423.9, its weakest stage since November 2022.
